What is recorded here

Castleton of Eassie is a rectangular castle mound from the 12th or 13th centuries, now hidden beneath a house and garden. Its deep ditch and broad causeway mark it as a fortress rather than a simple farm, while coins of Edward I and a spearhead suggest it witnessed real danger. The mound may have begun as a crannog, floating in water before the land rose around it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castleton of Eassie as Milestone (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
