Midden and disc markings cluster around Lud Castle in Angus, where a narrow neck joins a steep promontory to the mainland. The earthworks still rise above the coast, preserving the shape of a place where people likely lived, watched the sea and left behind tools now kept in Dundee.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Lud Castle as Midden (period Unassigned), Disc (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
