Kinnaird Castle has sheltered Clan Carnegie for more than 600 years, enduring fire in 1452 and again in 1921. Kings and pretenders walked its halls, including James VI, Charles I, Charles II and James Francis Edward Stuart, while James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose stayed three years from 1629. The castle was burned once for loyalty to James II of Scotland, confiscated once for loyalty to a lost cause, then rebuilt and remodeled until it became the large baronial house still standing near Brechin.

The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Kinnaird Castle, located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, was built by the Keith family in the 16th century and later held by the Keiths and the Drummonds. It is remembered as a historically significant example of a Scottish tower house and for its association with prominent noble families.
