Kinnaird Castle has sheltered the Carnegie family for more than six centuries, surviving a royal burn in 1452 and a devastating fire in 1921. James VI, Charles I and Charles II all walked its halls, while the Old Pretender hid there during the winter of 1715 before the estate was confiscated.
