Vayne Castle is a 16th century ruin in Angus, Scotland, where a round south-west tower and square north-east tower still frame a stair turret set in the re-entrant angle. The Lindsays built it after acquiring the barony of Vayne or Fearn in the early 15th century, and its thick eastern walls remain almost entire even though the western part had decayed badly by 1958. In the 19th century the castle was stripped as a quarry for a nearby farmhouse, turning a noble house into ordinary building stone.
