Holed stone in An Gróbh: A rectangular stone with an hour-glass hole sits south of the church’s east end in County Kerry. The hole measures five units across, narrow enough to force a rope, chain or small marker through rather than beside the stone. People may have tied something precious to that spot, pulled a line across it or tested whether the stone still stood when the church fell quiet.
