What is recorded here

indicated is a crannog in Aghacarra, County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular island sits thirty metres from the north-west shore of Cornacarta Lough, where a collapsed timber palisade still marks its perimeter in the water. Rectangular house foundations appear at the south edge, defined by two wall bases rising thirty centimetres above the lake bed.

Situated c. 30m from the NW shore of subractangular Cornacarta Lough (dims. c. 700m NW-SE; c. 300m NE-SW). Circular overgrown island (diam. 15m; H 0.5m) of earth and stone with the remains of a collapsed timber palisade visible in the water around the perimeter. The foundations of a rectangular house site (RO003-015002-) (dims. 3m E-W plus; 2m N-S plus) defined by the base of two walls (Wth 1m; H 0.3m) are also visible at the S edge.
