Castle of Fiddes is a 16th century castle in Aberdeenshire, built on an L-plan with a circular stair-tower rising in the re-entrant. Shot-holes pierce the corbelling of its angle turrets, and a vaulted basement holds a kitchen with a large fireplace arch. It has survived as a farmhouse, yet its defensive projections and watch-chamber still mark it as a place built to be seen, resisted and remembered.
