Crathes Castle Policies holds a twentieth-century aqueduct and possible plantation bank beneath Aberdeenshire soil. Water may have flowed there for castle gardens or estate work, carrying life through stone instead of waiting for rain. The policies themselves suggest private management, where trees, borders and hidden channels shaped the land long before modern maps named them.
