The *Taurus* was a 19th-century British merchant vessel that sank in the North Sea in 1842 after striking a reef near the Shetland Islands. All 12 crew members were lost, along with a cargo of coal bound for Leith; its wreck remains an important example of early 19th-century coastal trade in the North Sea region.
