Corgarff Castle, Quarry stands in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, marked only as a quarry despite the castle name clinging to it like a ghost. The location is precise to ten metres, yet the purpose remains unassigned, leaving a hole in the story as deep as any pit dug into the earth. Perhaps men stripped stone for the castle above, or perhaps the castle is the fiction and the quarry the truth. Either way, the ground kept its edge while the names blurred.

Corgarff Castle was built in the 16th century by the Gordon family, who were prominent in northeast Scotland. It is remembered as a historic seat of the Gordons of Corgarff and as an example of a tower house typical of the Scottish Highlands during the late medieval period.
