Corgarff Castle is a 16th-century rubble tower in Aberdeenshire, built in 1537 as the fortified home of the Forbeses. Burned by Gordons in 1571 and later converted into a Hanoverian garrison after 1746, it became a barracks where soldiers guarded against whisky smuggling until 1831. The star-shaped curtain wall and added wings reveal how often the castle changed hands and purpose.

Corgarff Castle was built in the late 16th century by the Gordon family, a powerful Scottish noble clan. It is remembered as a significant example of a fortified Scottish tower house and as the ancestral seat of the Gordons of Corgarff.
