Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Bogantassie as Cairnfield (prehistoric), Field Boundary (prehistoric), Ring Ditch House (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Prehistoric cairnfield, dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. It represents communal burial or ritual activity, typical of prehistoric settlement patterns in upland Scotland.
