Crathes Castle Policies holds post-medieval ice-houses beside possible Neolithic post holes and an unassigned wall, layering centuries of human use inside one Aberdeenshire landscape. The ice-houses suggest people stored cold water or food through summer, while the older marks hint that the ground was shaped long before castle policies gave the site its name.
