Ratheennaboll is a fairy fort in County Mayo, an earthen ring where the boundary between human and hidden life grows thin. Its name suggests a place set apart, perhaps marked by a hill, a field or a memory lost to time. The earth may have shaped itself into a circle because something inside still breathes, waits or watches. To walk past it is ordinary. To stop listening is not.
