Thora's Fort stands in Lisbane, County Down, a rounded earthwork built during the early Christian period. It is a rath, a fortified home or refuge where people lived, worked and resisted danger. Thora may have been a local woman, a leader or a memory preserved in the name. The fort still holds that unknown life inside its bank.
