What is recorded here

Laing's Hill in Ballynagalliagh is a rath where an ancient boundary was reused as a living tree ring. The hill may have marked a field, a family or a forgotten claim before people stopped repeating the line. A tree growing inside that old circle would record the reuse in wood, saving the shape when memory faded.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH reused as TREE RING: LAING'S HILL. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; UNCERTAIN; C18TH/C19TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
