RATH & Man-made underground passage (O.S. memoir site) in Craigtown More

RATH & Man-made underground passage (O.S. memoir site)

What is recorded here

In early Christian times, a hidden chamber and a man-made passage cut through the living rock of Craigtown More. The underground route may have served worshippers, traders or fugitives, while the rath above watched the land. Together they formed a place where human hands shaped stone into memory, and mystery still breathes through the darkness below.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & Man-made underground passage (O.S. memoir site). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
