What is recorded here
Crookedstone holds a man-made passage beside a rath, marking the area where human hands cut through earth long before modern roads or laws arrived. The official record preserves the shape and kind of the place even when the exact year and named people have faded from memory. That gap is not emptiness. It is an invitation to imagine the people who dug, entered, remembered and forgot the hole they made.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & Man-made underground passage (CHART). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
