RATH in Tullyglush is an early Christian rath in County Armagh, Ireland, still marked as a scheduled archaeological site today. A rath is a defended enclosure, often circular or oval, built with earth and stone to protect people, animals and treasure. In Tullyglush that ancient boundary may have separated a household world from the open countryside, giving its people a place to trust when storms or strangers came near.
