What is recorded here
Mawillian still holds the buried line of a Rath, though no wall now breaks the sky. Earth and forgetting did the work of men, dragging stone and purpose back into darkness. What rages inside the chest may have raged there first, building a Rath in flesh before losing the shape of its own name.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
