RATH in Ennislare

RATH

What is recorded here

Ennislare still holds the circular scar of a Rath, an ancient fortification whose red earth and broken stones mark human ambition long before written memory. The land remembers the weight of lives lived inside its curve, perhaps in fear, perhaps in pride, perhaps in the ordinary certainty that a boundary must be drawn.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
