RATH in Drumbrughas

RATH

What is recorded here

Drumbrughas still holds the buried line of a Rath, an ancient fortification marked only by a point on the official map. The earth may hide a hollow way, a hidden chamber or a forgotten doorway, yet no human body or finished room has emerged to prove the shape. The site remains a dormant vessel, waiting for the right hand or the right storm to reveal what it swallowed.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
