What is recorded here

RATH in Ballygonnell, County Fermanagh, is an ancient earthwork recorded for the early Christian period. A flat top and steep sides may have marked a home, a watch post or a boundary for a small community. People may have lived there, argued there or watched the land pass under changing skies. The name remains because the shape still stands where human hands made it.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
