RATH in Aghalislone

RATH

What is recorded here

Aghalislone in County Antrim held a rath, a fortified place from the early Christian period when people built defences around what they loved or feared to lose. The stones may have marked a home, a shrine or a boundary, but the name still points to human pride and imagination.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
