Moneymore lost a rath before modern memory began catching it. The destruction may have come from hunger, battle or simple human greed for its stones. Whatever vanished, the land kept the shape of the hole and the town carried the absence forward.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH (destroyed). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
