Barrow, ring-barrow

What is recorded here

A circular area enclosed by a fosse and an external bank (overall diam. 32m), with entrances at the E and W. Partially excavated by O'Riordáin (1950, 254-8: Site No. 4). The extended inhumation of an adult female (head to W) was uncovered at the centre of the monument and finds included fragments of flint and a bronze ring. Rath, Curragh is a Bronze Age ringbarrow, dating to approximately 2000–500 BCE. Its significance lies in its funerary context and the partial excavation that revealed an adult female burial, contributing to understanding of burial practices in the region.
