What is recorded here
Under Cleggan, a man-made passage cuts through ancient earth beside a raised rath, joining human ambition to older forces. The chamber does not claim to be natural, nor does it hide its edges. It is a made thing, built to be entered. That is why it still matters.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH & Man-made underground passage. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
