What is recorded here
Polintamny still holds a raised rath, though no human hand has shaped its edge in centuries. The earth rose there before written memory, perhaps for a farm, a fortress or a forgotten god. Men may have lived inside its circle, loved and bled and forgotten the reason the mound existed. The land keeps what people lose.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
