What is recorded here

Kilrea Old Church stands in County Derry as a medieval and post-medieval worship site where living people once prayed above buried ancestors. The graveyard surrounding it suggests generations laid their dead beneath open sky while the church marked the boundary between memory and forgetting. Whatever prayers echoed there, they belonged to ordinary humans who needed a fixed point for love, loss and hope.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH & GRAVEYARD: KILREA OLD CHURCH or KILREA O'DIAMOND. Recorded period: MED/L.MED; POST-MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
