RAISED RATH in Moneylane

RAISED RATH

What is recorded here

Moneylane still carries the shadow of a raised rath, though no wall stands to mark the line. The earth itself may have been the boundary, lifting slightly where hands and cart horses worked it sharp. A rath is a room built for watching, and watching needs a ridge. That much is written in the shape of the name.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
