What is recorded here

The Swine Craes still stands as a raised rath and ancient fields in Carnstroan, though no date or owner is recorded. Pigs may have filled the enclosure before people stopped running it, which would explain the name and abandon every claim about its purpose.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH; ENCLOSURE; ANCIENT FIELDS: THE SWINE CRAES (c.f. Ant 033:021). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
