What is recorded here
Situated c. 40m outside the NW portion of the outer rampart of Mooghaun hillfort (CL042-074001-). There is a steep cliff rising to c. 12m at this location and it is evident that extensive quarrying took place. Material for Mooghaun Castle (CL042-072002-) 300m to the W may have come from here. As similar quarrying took place on the opposite side of the hill in the Bronze Age (CL042-074019-) it is possible that this location was also exploited at this time.
