Thirty-seven metres of buried wall still cut across the south end of Gortaclare Mountain, closing a narrow bridge of land above the Glen of Clab. The fort did not need a tall circular rampart because the cliff and valley did half the work. People may have watched roads, herds or invading shadows from that ridge while living inside the small protected field.

On a promontory at the S end of Gortaclare Mountain overlooking the Glen of Clab to the S and within a field system (CL006-042001-) extending all over the plateau. Visible on OSi Aerial Premium (2012-2018) and noted by Ros Ó Maoldúin. A mound wall is visible extending across the promontory NW-SE for 37m before it turns NE for 8m before reaching the SE extent of the promontory. This feature cuts off an area of 1.8ha.
