The Battle of Prestonpans was fought between Jacobite forces led by the Young Pretender, Bonnie Prince Charlie, and government troops under Sir John Cope on September 21, 1745. The Jacobites won a decisive victory, boosting their momentum during the Rising of 1745 and leading to the eventual march on Edinburgh and London.
