Battle of Prestonpans is a major battle site with a checked map point.
The Battle of Prestonpans was fought on September 21, 1745, between the Jacobite forces led by the Young Pretender, Charles Edward Stuart, and the British government troops under Sir John Cope. The Jacobites won a decisive victory, which marked the beginning of their successful campaign in Scotland during the War of Austrian Succession and boosted their momentum towards the eventual march on Edinburgh and London.
