Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, installed c.1930, having P & T insignia, set in roughcast rendered wall.
This cast-iron post box, which is still in use, is an attractive item of street furniture and represents an early-surviving artefact of mass-produced cast-iron work. The raised detailing is of artistic interest, alluding to the Celtic Revival style and representing the continued promotion of a national identity in the emergent independent state.
