Freestanding cast-iron pillar post box, erected c.1915, on cylindrical base, with raised 'GR' royal cipher, having moulded neck and plinth with dentillation to shallow domed cap. Sited in front of courthouse in paved pedestrian area.

This post box was cast by McDowall, Steven and Company Ltd of London and Glasgow and represents a good example of mass-produced cast-iron work making a pleasant contribution to the streetscape. It continues in use today after a century of service.
