What is recorded here
You are walking the edge of County Derry when the ground stops behaving like ordinary soil. Something large may have lain there in PREHISTORIC time, a chamber or tomb built with stones big enough to stop a person mid-thought. It is not certain, and that uncertainty is the shape of the place: a ghost of a tomb, remembered only through an old map and the silence of the land.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as possible MEGALITHIC TOMB (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
