What is recorded here
Mortars and muscles built a tall wooden stage above the Fermanagh mud, lifting people and perhaps gods above the ordinary world. Height was the whole ceremony: more light, further reach, and a view that suggested the heavens leaned closer when humans stood taller. The platform may have served festivals, warnings or worship, but distance and elevation remain its clearest speech.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
