PLATFORM RATH (CHART) in Ballyginniff

PLATFORM RATH (CHART)

What is recorded here

Mortars and chambers still stand inside the broken ring, marking the platform rath as a place where people lived, died and were remembered before the present world arrived. The chart point sits at the heart of that old ground in Ballyginniff, not at a new building or a modern mistake. A rath of this kind may have held a house, a yard and a burial chamber, while the community around it came and went until only stones and story remained.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH (CHART). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
