What is recorded here

Situated in the industrial bog, Cashel, Co. Laois that is currently in Bord na Mona milled peat production. Monument consists of four closely placed parallel roundwoods recorded protruding from the drain face in a SE-NW direction. These were only exposed for a maximum of 0.14m into the drain face and were 0.90m from the field surface. They ranged in diameter from 0.07-0.14m. These elements were not located in any of the surrounding drains and may represent a small platform or a short length of a togher. A single element was sampled and later identified as alder and dated to 3780-3640 BC. Reference number LS-CSL004 in ADS Ltd. Catalogue. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007
