On a shelf of high ground with higher ground to the S. Pits are visible on aerial photograph (OS 4/2035) in an area of c. 15 ha. Only about 15 pits (dims c. 10-15m x 5-6m; D c. 0.5-1m) are now visible in the an area of c. 7 acres (c. 3 ha) in lines running E-W and placed c. 30m apart.
