Fire and stone marked the dead before the road came near. A small pit held charcoal and cream-coloured bone, while stake-holes and a possible hearth clustered around it like the remains of a ceremony rather than a grave dug in haste. The larger overlapping pit may have carried a marker stone, giving the place a shape that could be recognised when memory faded.

On a slight N-facing slope on an undulating plain. Excavated in 2007 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road improvement scheme (Licence no. E3538). A small, circular pit filled with a charcoal-rich deposit containing cremated bone. Three stake-holes, a pit and a possible hearth were clustered around the cremation.
