Pier/Jetty in Lugduff (ballinacor North By.)

Described by Healy (172, 149) as ‘it has also been noted that at the south east corner of the lake, a little to the west of Reefert Church (WI023-028001-), there are the remains of two stone piers. These are 27 metres apart, and are connected by a paved passage along the base of the cliff. That to the west is only a few metres long, and is very roughly constructed. The other, which is now completely below water level, is 2 metres wide, and over 12 metres long. It is built of flat slabs of mica schist, without mortar, and has a regular face on the west side. These may possibly have been built and used by boatmen in the last century. The piers which have been in use in modern times are at the north east corner of the lake’. Date of upload: 19 November 2012
