Peg Washington's Lane records a personal boundary dispute transformed into public memory. Around 1800, Peg Washington feared new buildings would cut her access to water from the river Duiske. She asked for a laneway the width of herself, and the request was granted. The lane preserves her bodily measure, not a grand ceremonial processions or official rank.
