Pat McGuigan was born in Clones, County Monaghan, on 10 February 1935, and died young at 52. He sang "Chance of a Lifetime" for Ireland at Eurovision 1968, placing fourth, while his son Barry later became world featherweight boxing champion. McGuigan also performed "Danny Boy" before Barry's title fights, carrying a small northern town into international memory through music and courage.
