Pat Courtney

Pat Courtney was born in Dublin in 1940 and gave thirteen years to one club, running the left flank at Shamrock Rovers until he left Glenmalure Park in 1971. He played sixteen straight European games against names like Bayern Munich and Valencia before injury stopped the streak, collecting seven FAI Cups and five League of Ireland Shields along the way. A man who never jumped ship, he turned a local ground into a stage for continental giants and walked away only when his body refused to continue.
