What is recorded here

Drumgoff Barracks dates from around 1800, and was one of a group of barracks built on the Military Road constructed after the 1798 rising. Not long after it was constructed, Michael Dwyer and the other rebels were captured or surrendered so it had a very short life as a barracks. The other barracks in the group were at Laragh (demolished), Aughavannagh (an An Oige hostel in 1993, present status unknown) and Glencree (now restored by OPW). 19th century crenellated house which replaced 18th century barracks.
