ONE STONE REMAINING OF STONE CIRCLE: DRUID'S CIRCLE in Mobuy

ONE STONE REMAINING OF STONE CIRCLE: DRUID'S CIRCLE

What is recorded here

One stone still stands in Mobuy, though a whole circle may have surrounded it when people last danced or prayed there. The missing stones are absent from every drawing and account, yet the survivor remains tall enough to mark the shape of what was lost.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ONE STONE REMAINING OF STONE CIRCLE: DRUID'S CIRCLE. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN; NEOLITHIC. Recorded protection: State Care and Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Likely dating to the Neolithic period, this standing stone was originally part of a stone circle, possibly used for ceremonial or astronomical purposes. Local tradition refers to it as "Druid's Circle," though this reflects later folklore rather than confirmed historical use.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
